Dorothy A. Strait, former McKean County Fair Association Superintendent



Dorothy A. Strait, 79, of Annin Creek Rd., passed away Saturday (Mar. 29, 2014) in Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport.
    
Born September 7, 1934, she was a daughter of John E. and Veronica Baker Johnson.  On Jan. 25, 1957, in Port Allegany, she married Robert D. Strait, Sr., who survives.
    
Dorothy had worked at Viko Furniture Co. (Ethan Allen Co.) of Eldred.
    
She was a lifetime resident of the area and attended the Port Allegany High School.
    
She was a member of the Turtlepoint Evangelical Church, where she volunteered for many church activities.  Dorothy was very involved with the building of the Turtlepoint Community Park.  She was a former superintendent with the McKean County Fair Association, member of the Annin Township Board of Elections and a member of the former Rebekah’s Wisteria Lodge of Port Allegany.
    
Surviving in addition to her husband, Robert, are two sons, Robert D. Strait, Jr. and George A. Strait both of Turtlepoint; a daughter, Judy E. (Don) Dickerson of Shinglehouse; six grandchildren; Amy, Jennie, Bill, Nicole, George Jr., and Aaron; four great-grandchildren; Chase, Xavier, Cassandra “Harley”, and Makayla; a brother, Howard Bruce Johnson of Revenna, OH; and a sister, Barbara Yeager of Smethport; and several nieces and nephews.
      
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Ann Marie Strait; two brothers, John “Jack” Johnson and Robert Johnson; and a sister, Sandra L. McIsaac.
    
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Anthony Edgell, pastor of the Turtlepoint Evangelical Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Annin Creek Cemetery, Turtlepoint.
    
Memorials can be made to the Turtlepoint Evangelical Church, Turtlepoint Community Park, or Annin Creek Cemetery.
