Port Allegany Police dealt with
disabled vehicle situations, a mental health issue, a suspected hit-and-run
vehicle, a Megan’s Law notification and other matters in the week that began
Monday, January 20.
Last Monday At 11:20
a.m. Chief Dave Distrola discovered a phone
wire down on Harrison Street, and reported the problem to Verizon.
Last Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. the police
department processed a Megan’s Law notification, providing notice concerning a
sexually violent predator, Charles Kontz, of 88 Church Street.
At 4:45 p.m. Officer Tony Tanner was
dispatched to check on a disabled vehicle at the intersection of Route 6 and Main
street. The vehicle was no longer there when he reached the intersection, and
was said to have been towed.
Thursday at 7
p.m. Tanner was dispatched to Main Street
at Mill Street to check on a disabled vehicle. He found that the motorist had
run out of gas and was being assisted by a family member.
Friday at 6:10
p.m. Tanner was dispatched to 64 South Main
Street for a reported mental health issue. The subject was transported to
Bradford Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
Saturday at 9:05 a.m. Officer Kyle Day responded to a 911
hang-up at a Maple Street address. It turned out that a three-year-old had been
playing with the phone.
At 11 a.m. Day was asked to check on a motor
vehicle suspected of having been involved in a hit-and-run as referred by Pennsylvania
State Police. He found the vehicle on Route 6 East and relayed the information
to PSP.
At 2 p.m. Day was contacted about a dog running
at large on Smith Avenue, and advised the caller to contact the SPCA.
At 6 p.m. Officer Jason Crants was notified of
poor road conditions on South Main Street. The earlier shift already had
contacted PennDOT.
Sunday at 3:29 a.m. Crants was dispatched to the area of
South Main Street where someone had reported an erratic driver. He did not find
the vehicle in question.
