Opal J. Moshier, PAHS Class of 1943



Opal J. Moshier, 88, of E. Mill St., passed away Monday (Feb. 10, 2014) peacefully, in her home, after a lengthy illness.
    
Born April 1, 1925, in Oil City, PA, she was a daughter of Clem and Myrtle Rhoades Baum.  On Jun. 14, 1948, in Port Allegany, she married Richard Moshier, who died Nov. 6, 1972.
    
Opal was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, Class of 1943.
    
Mrs. Moshier had worked for the Cameo Doll Factory, Port Allegany, 7 years, a secretary for Jim Isherwood, Attorney, 3 years, and most recently, a bank clerk with the First National Bank, Port Allegany, 30 years, before her retirement.
    
She was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Port Allegany, where she served on the church council, and was a past president of the Gethsemane Lutheran Women.
    
Surviving are a son, Duane D. (Sarah) Moshier of North Huntingdon, PA, two daughters-in-law, Barbara Moshier of NYC, Patricia Mancuso of Dunkirk, NY; three grandchildren, Jacob (Jessi) Moshier, Santa Cruz, CA, Erin (Sam) Moshier-Alpar, Henryville, PA, Troy Moshier, North Huntingdon, PA; three great-grand-children, Elia and Miles Moshier of Santa Cruz, CA, and Fiona Skye Alpar, Henryville, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
      
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, a son, Dean Moshier, two brothers, Merle and Lester Baum; and three sisters, Geraldine Ernst, Maebelle Kennedy, and Imogene Baum.
    
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.  Friday (Feb. 14, 2014) in the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Port Allegany, with Rev. Randall Headley, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
    
Memorials can be made to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church or the S.W. Smith Library, Port Allegany.
