Kysor represents PAHS in Maryland

"The Port Allegany High School Music Department is pleased to announce that Charles Kysor (11th grade) will be representing PAHS as a member of the American Choral Directors Association All-East Honors Choir in Baltimore, MD from February 5 - 8.  Charles was selected on the basis of an audition last spring and he will be singing Bass 1 in the Chinese Repertoire Honor Choir under the direction of Jing Ling Tam.  Dr. Tam is a  Professor of Music at the University of Texas Arlington.  She has garnered international recognition as a brilliant conductor and also served as Chorus Master for the Ft. Worth Opera Association.  She is also recognized as a composer and will be premiering a new work with the ACDA Chinese Repertoire Honor Choir.  This choir is a very select ensemble comprised of the finest student singers in 11th and 12th grade from the Eastern Division states.

Charles is a junior at PAHS and is the son of Daniel and Kate Kysor.  He is a member of the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Show Choir, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band and has performed in musical theatre productions at PAHS.  Additionally, Charles has represented PAHS at PMEA District and Regional Chorus for two years.  He also is a member of the National Honor Society and has played on the PAHS soccer team.

The student singers will arrive in Baltimore on Wednesday and rehearse with Dr. Tam in preparation for the All-East Honors Choir Concert on Saturday, February 8th at 4 PM at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore. MD. 

Founded in 1959, the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) is a non-profit music education association whose central purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching.  The Honors Choir program will run concurrently with the Eastern Division Conference for choral directors, composers, and educators."
