There was a bumper thumper due to
slippery roads, and one incident of alleged indecent exposure during a brief
moderating of the temperature, but the Port Allegany Police Department log
indicated that cold weather seemed to keep criminal activity to a minimum in
the week that began Monday, December 30, 2013.
Last Tuesday at 12:50 p.m. Chief Dave
Distrola received a complaint about a vehicle parked at the Pump House and
blocking access. Distrola contacted the vehicle owner and learned that his son
had dropped the vehicle off for service.
At 2:40 p.m. Distrola assisted the
McKean County Drug Task Force with the arrest of Travis Smithmyer at 63 Church
Street.
At 10:55 p.m. Officer Tony Tanner was
dispatched to 42 North Main Street for a reported alcohol overdose. He stood by
until the ambulance arrived.
New Years Day at 2:26
a.m. Tanner was dispatched to 89 Lower
Grimes for a domestic dispute. Pennsylvania State Police were unavailable to
handle the call. The subjects had calmed down by the time Tanner got there.
At 2:55 a.m. Tanner went to the scene
of a motor vehicle crash on Brooklynside Road and stood by until the PSP got
there.
At 3 a.m. Tanner was dispatched to Park Lane
Drive for a complaint that residents had their music volume cranked up. Things
quieted down.
Wednesday at 6:20
p.m. Officer Adam Dickerson was dispatched
to a Church Street residence for a report of an indecent exposure incident.
Three youths complained that Dwayne Howard, 51, of 37 Church Street, had
approached them while not wearing any clothes. Howard was arraigned before
Magisterial District Judge William Todd and jailed on $20,000 bail.
Thursday at 8:55
a.m. Chief Distrola was requested to
respond to the scene of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Mill
Street and Main Street. A delivery truck had been unable to stop on icy
pavement and had slid into the rear of a sports-utility vehicle. Drivers were
uninjured and vehicles were drivable. The drivers were advised to exchange
information.
At 10 p.m. Officer Dickerson responded to an
alarm at Munchies. He found that this was a false activation. The key holder
was notified.
Friday at 10:35
a.m. Distrola was dispatched to an alarm at
the PC Credit Union. This too was an accidental activation.
The rest of the week was uneventful.
