Port Allegany residents and visitors
were law abiding, for the most part, in the holiday week that began Monday,
December 23 and ended Sunday, December 29. Port Allegany Police were vigilant,
though, enforcing the laws and at least one court order, and helping people in
other ways.
Last Tuesday at 2 p.m. Chief Dave
Distrola helped a motorist and unlocked a motor vehicle on Maple Street.
Last Wednesday at 6:38 p.m. Officer
Jason Crants received a complaint of a broken window on Willow Street. The
complainant said that a juvenile had broken the window by throwing a snowball.
Crants was unable to identify or locate the culprit.
At 9:38 p.m. Crants received a
complaint based on a dispute over a child custody matter. Crants advised the
parties to follow the court order. The exchange was made without incident.
Friday at 11:30
a.m. Officer Kyle Day received a complaint
of a truck blocking the roadway on Maple Street. He made contact with the owner
and advised him to move the vehicle. The owner complied.
Saturday at 11:50
P.m. Officer Tony Tanner discovered a
juvenile out after curfew, and filed a citation.
Sunday at 2:05
p.m. Officer William Wenzel was requested
to go to Eldred to back up Eldred Police for a report of an armed person, but
the call was canceled before Wenzel left Port Allegany Borough.
At 8 p.m. Officer Tanner received a report that
sparks and flashes were seen near a hydrant on Main Street in the Sheetz area.
He noticed some conduit near a tree but could not determine the source of the
sparks or arcs that had been described.
Monday at 4:44
a.m. Tanner responded to 217 North Main
Street for a report of a person being found unconscious. The subject was
reported to have been drinking and to be on prescription medications. The
person was transported to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
