Mayor George Riley is pictured as he was sworn in earlier this
month by Judge Todd in Smethport. Mayor Riley grew up in Auburn, NY and
attended St. Bonaventure University majoring in History and Education.
While at St. Bonaventure, the mayor met Susan Payne, a PAHS grad, and
they were married in 1988.
Mayor Riley started working for Prudential Insurance and
then began working for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services. He worked for
ADAS for 11 years and was very active in the area schools covering
Cameron, Elk, McKean and Potter Counties during this time. When a
history position became available in the Port Allegany School District,
he switched careers. He found the job at ADAS very fulfilling and
enjoyed the occasional traveling he did, but History is what he loved
and he accepted the job offer at PAHS.
A few of his
activities at PAHS involve Gator News, which he established, Varsity
Club, and he is the Head Track Coach. He is the chaperone for the World
Affairs program sponsored by the Port Allegany Rotary Club. He is a
member of the Lions Club, St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and the Knights
of Columbus.
George is married to Susan Payne Riley and they are
parents to three daughters, Olivia, 23 years old, and twins, Rhiannon and
Sophia, 19 years old.
