Elaine D. Johnson, 82, of Port Allegany, died peacefully on
Jan. 4, 2014 at her home in Port Allegany, PA.
She was born on October 6, 1931 in Indiana, PA, a daughter
of Spiro Z. And Stella Bitchakas Douvlos. On June 17, 1967, she married Merle
G. Johnson, who died February 5, 2013.
Elaine was a 1949 graduate of Port Allegany High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1953 from the University of Pittsburgh. Elaine was a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta National Sociological Fraternity and the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Alpha Theta chapter.
Elaine was the Majority Inspector of Elections for Liberty Township, a member of the PA Farmer's Association, a member of several local Bridge clubs, a member of the Siatistian Association, and also a member of the Red Hat Association - the 'Glamourous Gatorettes', of Port Allegany. She also held a small aircraft pilot's license.
She is survived by one daughter: Teri (Luke) Summa of Central Florida, with grandson: Daniel (Andrea) Ficarro, and granddaughter: Lindsay N. Ficarro, one step-son: Michael G. (Nanette) Johnson of Chicago, IL, two step-daughters: Susie Darlene (William) Kelley, of Griffin, GA, with two grandchildren: William Kelley and Jeffrey Kelley, and Nancy J. McGuire, of Houston, TX., with two granddaughters: Charlene McGuire and Kelly McGuire. Elaine also had 5 step grand-children. She is also survived by her only sister: Argery S. (Larry) Siapantas of Thessalonika, Greece, two nieces: Denise (Karl) deRoquefort-Reynolds, Amy Douvlos, and nephew: John (Vicky) Douvlos, her Aunt: Nora Bitchakas, with two cousins: Argery Bitchakas Cooke and Pete Bitchakas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her only brother: Jack S. Douvlos.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 from 4-6pm at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home on 105 N. Main Street, Port Allegany. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at Noon, also at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home, Port Allegany, with the Rev. James Campbell, pastor of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
