Port A. boro incumbents win / By Martha Knight



The four incumbents appear to have won reelection to the Port Allegany Borough Council, defeating a former council member, according to preliminary results.

Apparent winners, all Republicans, are Andrew Johnson, with 232 votes; Francis (Sam) Dynda Jr., 209; Judith A. Taylor, 195; and David A. Fair, 151.

Finishing a close fifth in a best-four-of-five race was Democrat Lewis Duell, with 143 votes.

George R. Riley will be mayor, come January 1, having run unopposed to succeed Don Carley, who did not seek another term.

Patricia Payne was re-elected tax collector with 249 votes.She and Riley are Republicans.

Shirley Johnson will continue as Judge of Elections in District 2, and Loraine Bova will do so in District 1. Ann Lewis, Republican, and Felicia Culver, Democrat, will be inspectors in District 2, and Becky Mingo, will serve in District 1. All are incumbents.
