Rotary Report

The Port Allegany Rotary Club held their weekly meeting at the Moose Family Center.  Pictured is Charlie Cox who received recognition as a member of the Paul Harris Society.  Members of the Society bring positive change to communities around the world supporting projects like vocational training for teachers establishing an early childhood education center in South Africa; water filters, toilet blocks and hygiene training to prevent fluorosis in a community in India; a school for medical professionals in Italy to minimize mortality rates of premature babies; peace building seminars for 200 teachers and 1300 students in Uganda; insect treated mosquito nets and medical services to help prevent malaria in Mali and more.  The Paul Harris Society is named after Rotary founder Paul Harris.  It honors those who contribute $1000 annually (or more) to the Annual Fund, Polio Plus or an approved Rotary Foundation Grant.  There were 16 Rotarians present for a reportable attendance of 62 percent.  The Lucky Rotarian of the Day was Rich Kunkel.  Pictured with Rotarian Charlie Cox is Tom Chelgren, who presented a program on RYLA and made the Paul Harris society presentation to Cox.  Pam Fischer Photo
