Serious dumpster diving occurred at
Sheetz. Someone entered an apartment said to be unoccupied but found it occupied.
A man was apprehended for drug crimes he is accused of committing elsewhere. A
noise complaint was followed by an alcohol furnishing charge. Those and other
matters required Port Allegany Police action in the week that began Monday,
September 23 and ended Sunday, September 29.
Tuesday at 5:20 p.m. Officer Colin Strawcutter received a
report of property damage from a hit-and-run crash said to have occurred in the
Port Notary parking lot. He contacted the alleged perpetrator and advised the
individual to contact the complainant, who preferred not to file charges but
wanted an apology.
At 6:40 Strawcutter was called to address
skateboarding in the Sheetz parking lot. He told the individuals to leave. The
borough does not have a skateboarding ordinance as such.
Tuesday Chief Dave Distrola received a
complaint concerning damage that had been done to a vehicle. The complainant
said he was unsure where and when the damage had occurred, but his insurance
carrier had told him it must be reported in order for them to process the
claim.
At 6 p.m. Officer Strawcutter received a
complaint of a break-in at an apartment at 28½ North Main Street. Investigation
revealed that the alleged perpetrator had gone into an apartment inadvertently,
having been informed by the landlord that it was unoccupied. The subject left
immediately and contacted the police when he realized someone was living there.
Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Strawcutter responded to North Main
Street apartments where a disturbance was reported. The disturbance turned out
to be two adult neighbors arguing over their children’s fight.
Thursday at 1:25 a.m. Strawcutter responded to Sheetz store
for a report of a man in the dumpster. The subject was looking for something to
eat. He was taken care of by staff at Sheetz, and given lodging for the night,
out of town.
At 12:30 p.m. Distrola assisted in
processing a search warrant for 18 North Main Street above the Northern Tier
Thrift Store, following the arrest of the occupant, Levon Mack. Mack was
charged with drug sales and possession, and arrested by Potter County drug task
force personnel.
Friday at 1:20 a.m. Strawcutter received a report of a man
walking in the roadway by Walt Miles’ salvage yard. The officer was unable to
locate the wanderer.
At 4:55 a.m. someone called to report
that a deer had been hit and was in the roadway on Route 155 south, near the
county line.
Saturday at 6 p.m. Officer Adam Dickerson unlocked a
vehicle at Sheetz.
At 9:30 p.m. Dickerson received a
report that a bike had been stolen from the area of St. Gabriel the Archangel
Catholic Church, and later recovered near the Port Allegany Health Center, and
returned.
Sunday at 2:20 a.m. Dickerson responded to a noise
complaint at 12½ North Main Street. He advised the occupants to keep the noise
down.
At 5 p.m. Officer Dickerson arrested Timothy
Durgan for furnishing alcohol to minors and corruption of minors, in connection
with a party that had taken place at 12 ½ North Main Street hours earlier. Durgan
was arraigned and jailed.
