Merle
D. Winston, 77, of Dunbar Rd., passed away Sunday (Sept. 29, 2013) in the
Select Specialty Hospital, Erie.
Born
January 31, 1936, in Morris, PA, he was a son of Milton and Neva I. Whitney
Winston. On July 25, 1953, in Grampian, PA, he married Mona A.
Hepfer, who survives.
Mr.
Winston had managed Olson-Tenglund Auto Parts, Inc. of Coudersport, retiring in
2005, after 42 years of service.
Merle
enjoyed canoeing, fishing, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving
are a son, Michael D. Winston of Somerset, PA; a daughter, Karen M. (Buster)
Daniels of Roulette; two grandchildren, Lisa Daniels of Roulette, Roy Daniels
of Brocton, NY; four great-grandchildren, Morgan Greeley, Jaclin, Josie, and
Brienna Daniels; a brother, Gordon Winston of Turtlepoint; and several nieces
and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Basil Winston; and a sister,
Bertha Bell.
There
will be no visitation. Friends will be received from 11a.m. to 2
p.m. Saturday (Oct. 5, 2013) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where
a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of
the First Baptist Church, Port Allegany, officiating.
Memorials
can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
