Kathryn E. Means, Great-great-grandmother



TURTLEPOINT, PA---Kathryn E. Means Mullin left the loving embrace of her daughters at age 95 on Monday, October 7, 2013 in her home.
    

Born October 5, 1918 in Fink, WV to Hiram Milton and Ellen Clark Means.  She was the youngest of seven sisters and one brother.
    

Kay moved to Bradford and on January 21, 1937 in Allegany, NY married Eugene J. “Geno” Mullin, who died on January 17, 2002.  Kay and Geno lived in Bradford and Bordell until settling in Turtlepoint.  They owned and operated Mullin Poultry Farm in Turtlepoint.
    

Kay had a wonderful sense of humor.  She enjoyed life to the fullest.  Camping, shopping, watching baseball and horse racing were some of her favorite pastimes.  
    

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sartwell.
    

She leaves behind daughters, Carole A. Hills of Northridge, CA, Kathi (Joe) Gibbs of Emporium, Debb Lee of Smethport, and Kelly J. Mullin of Smethport, her caregiver of the past eleven years.  Also surviving are six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
    

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Maureen M. McCarty; grandson, David Lee; her parents; and all her siblings.
    

Kay was blessed to be cared for by Catherine Loveless, Kelly Wright, and Londa Baker to whom her daughters will forever be grateful.
    

At the family’s request, there will be no public visitation.  A wake will be held for family and friends on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the family home, 39 Annin Creek Road, Turtlepoint.
    

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the McKean County SPCA, 80 Glenwood Avenue, Bradford, PA 16701 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
