Elizabeth Caffo Coxe, Volunteer

Elizabeth Caffo Coxe, 65, of Lehigh Acres, FL, died at home on Sunday (Oct. 20, 2013) from cancer.

The youngest daughter of the late Albert and Ruth Caffo, "Biz" was born April 4, 1948, in Port Allegany, where she graduated from high school in 1966. She enjoyed her participation in Brownies and Girl Scouts and was on the National Honor Society. Elizabeth graduated from Penn State University in 1971 and began her long career as a dietitian. She worked for many years at Embreeville State Hospital in Pennsylvania, working with disabled adults; she ended her career as a dietician at the Gulf Coast Center in Florida.

Elizabeth was committed to her Catholic faith and was a member of St. Rafael Catholic Church in Lehigh Acres, where she sang in the choir. She was also a regular and beloved volunteer at the Lehigh Senior Center and brought joy to the lives of many seniors. She loved her cats, enjoyed special moments of shelling at Florida beaches, and often played cards with her many friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Helen Virginia Carlson (George) of Turtlepoint, and her brother, Albert Lincoln Caffo (Betty) of Havre de Grace, Md. Elizabeth was loved by her six nieces and nephews and their spouses and also by her 12 grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (October 26) at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Allegany. Burial at St. Gabriel Cemetery will be private.
