ROCHESTER, PA - Michael A. Borro Jr., 80, of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of Port Allegany, PA, and Freedom, passed away Monday (Aug. 5, 2013) in the Brodmoor Assisted Living of Bridgeville, PA.
Born
Feb. 13, 1933, in Rochester, a son of the late Michael A. Sr. and Mary Dionise
Borro, he was a retired school teacher and football coach with the Port
Allegany School District and was also a reading specialist.
He
was a former member of St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church in Port Allegany and
was a former member of St. Felix Roman Catholic Parish, Freedom. He was a
1951 graduate of Freedom Area High School, he attended the University of
Kentucky, where he played football and also played football and received his
bachelor of science degree and master's degree from Glanville State College in
West Virginia. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the
Big 30 football committee and was a member of the PSERS. He enjoyed
hunting and loved football, both playing and coaching.
He
was preceded in death by his wife, Joan M. "Zindren" Borro, in 2007;
three sisters, Lenora Bruno, Dorothy Spagnoli and Mary Rose Early; and one
brother, John Borro.
He is
survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Louise Borro of Conway and
Janet M. and Robert Pacak of Pittsburgh; two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael
A. and Thrisa Borro III of Roulette, PA, and Anthony J. and Terri Borro of
Coudersport, PA; six grandchildren, Gina Vincent and Francesca Pacak of
Pittsburgh, Sara and Nicole Borro of Roulette, PA, Trey and Ty Borro of
Coudersport; two sisters, Louise Kronstain of Freedom and Lucy Kronstain of
Conway; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends
will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the William Murphy
Funeral Home Inc., 349 Adams St., Rochester, PA. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Felix Roman Catholic Parish,
Freedom, PA. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Freedom. A
Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
