It was my pleasure to host the 11th Annual Senior Citizens Expo last week at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. I hope those who attended found it helpful. Seniors and their family members and caregivers are invited to another expo on Friday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Roulette Fire Hall. For information about that expo, contact the Coudersport office at 814-274-9769.

Committee Holds Hearing on Changes to 911 System
The House Veterans Affairs and
Emergency Preparedness Committee recently held a public hearing to
gather input on necessary changes to the 911 Emergency Telephone Act in
an effort to enhance public safety in the Commonwealth. Among the issues
examined during the hearing was the reauthorization of wireless
surcharges and needed updates to keep pace with advancing communications
technology. Testifiers included county officials, representatives of
county 911 centers and stakeholders from the communications industry.
The committee will hold two additional public hearings on the issue in
other areas of the state in the coming weeks.
