E. Kio, 88, of
Boonton Twp., NJ, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013 after a brief illness.
Basil was born in Kinzua, PA and grew up in Port Allegany, PA.
He has lived in Boonton Twp. the past 40 years.

Mr. Kio was Chief Operating Officer of Perfect School Plan in West Caldwell, NJ. After his retirement in 1991 he moved on to promotional sales with A.B. Kohler in Montville, NJ.
He was the NJ State Commander of US Submarine Veterans of WWII. Basil was a dedicated Veteran who was a familiar face at Eagle Scout Ceremonies in Northern NJ where he shared the story of Commander Eugene Fluckey. Dutifully he gave that speech for the last time on the afternoon of August 10, 2013 - later that day he was admitted to the hospital.
Basil was a Free and Accepted Mason and a member of Verona-Huron Lodge No. 365 in Bad Axe, MI.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Jane (Greasby); children Thomas and his wife Connie, Cynthia Scheer, David, Sally Mulvey and her husband Daniel; grandchildren Michelle, Jennifer, Stephanie, Carrie, Ryanna, Sara and James; also 9 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Roy E. & Bertha Kio, his son Michael in 2005; brothers Seth, Cliff and Roy R. Kio; sisters Mary Culver, Joyce Corah, Oaka Rees and Carol Jean Teats.
A Memorial Service will honor and celebrate his life at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 215 Boulevard, Mountain Lakes, NJ on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:00AM.
