PAAS service uninterrupted during investigation/By Martha Knight

An investigation into alleged drug tampering and thefts from the Bradford Fire Department ambulance service had its effect on the Port Area Ambulance Service, where local police are investigating the possibility that its drug supplies could have been targeted too.

The local investigation was commenced late last week. Port Allegany Police Chief Dave Distrola said, “I received information from the Bradford Police Department on a potential tampering of narcotics at the Port ambulance service. Information was obtained through an investigation they are conducting on a paramedic in Bradford…An investigation has been initiated with the Port Area Ambulance (service).”

Distrola added that there is no solid proof of crime (at the local service) or suspect at this time.

Another source explained that the paramedic charged with drug tampering and theft in Bradford, Brandon Michael Landuyt, has served or filled in at PAAS on occasion.

PAAS captain Jason Stake emphasized that PAAS continues to transport patients and respond to calls as needed, with no change in service. He declined to comment further about the investigation while it is ongoing.
