Ostrom joins Sandy Johnson School of Dance
Sandy Johnson's
School of Dance is excited to announce the addition of Teresa Ostrom to
the studio faculty. Mrs. Ostrom's high energy and enthusiasm, along
with her love of dance and working with young dancers will add to the
studio's reputation. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Ostrom both consider dance
as an Athletic Art Form, not a reality show or sporting event. Sending
positive messages to the young dancers with proper technique is the
priority. Mrs. Ostrom began dancing when she was three years old. Her
mother enrolled her in dance classes to help her "blow off some steam".
She did not know it would turn into her first love. She has danced at
Carol Thompson's School of Dance which transitioned into the Huntingdon
Dance Academy. She studied
Ballet (Pointe), Modern, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop. She has participated
in workshops throughout Pennsylvania and New York. She has studied
under Mia Michaels, Wade Robinson and Chris Judd. Throughout the years
she has participated in Penn State's Dance Camp on the University Park
Campus. Mrs. Ostrom starting teaching Hip Hop/Jazz at the Huntingdon
Dance Academy at the age of 16. After graduating high school she went
on to further her education at Lock Haven University. She received a
Social Work degree along with a minor in Dance (Choreography, History
and Therapy). She was the Vice-President and later President of the
Modern Dance Company and then Vice-President, Dance Consort on Campus.
After being married, she has moved to this area to be with her husband
and young son. Mrs. Ostrom is excited to share her talents with
students in this area. Pam Fischer Photo
