"Dig Into Reading" is the theme for the
2013 Summer Reading Program at the S. W. Smith Library and Bookmobile which
began June 1 and ends August 7.
There is something for all ages - infants, toddlers, preschoolers, students in
K-12 and adults. Kick off days were Saturday, June 1 at the library and
Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, June 5, 6 or 7 at the Bookmobile. The
Infant/Toddler Reading Club has parents keeping a reading log of the book they
read to their children and the kids will get to pick a prize from the prize
jar. The Preschool Story Hour at the library will be held Wednesdays from
10 - 11 a.m. from July 10 through August 7.
Students will keep a reading log and will receive a sticker
for each book recorded and a chance to win a grand prize. After reading
just 4 books, readers will get a free club t-shirt. Club meetings will be
held on Wednesdays, July 10 through August 7 from 10 - 11 a.m. For those
who read 10 or more books, an invitation to a pizza party will be given.
Adults will also receive a chance to win a grand prize for each book they
record in their log and after reading 10 will be invited to the pizza
party. That party will be held August 15 at 5:30 p.m.

Strait, with students from PAES Kindergarten. The Kindergarteners visited
one class at a time, for a tour of the new facility. They also learned
about the Summer Reading Program being offered by the library. Also
pictured are students as they explore the sand table located in the children's
area of the library. Pam Fischer Photos
