Annin GOP to nominate supervisor, collector/By Martha Knight

Seeking Republican Nominations for supervisor in Annin Township are Linda Benson of Plunkett Hollow, Turtlepoint; Peter C. Causer of Long Hollow Road, Turtlepoint; and John Barr of Gleason Hollow, Port Allegany.  There is one six-year position to be filled.

There are no Democratic contenders.

Peter C. Causer is an incumbent by appointment, having been named to fill out the remaining months of Dave McFall’s term, after the death of McFall. Causer is a truck driver for TCS. He is a former dairy farmer and lifelong resident of the Turtlepoint area.

Barr served as a supervisor for six years, having been elected in 2003. He has been roadmaster for the township in that period and has served in that capacity until the present.

Linda Benson has served the Port Allegany School District in the food service and as guidance secretary. At a candidates’ forum she expressed an interest in seeing more industry and business in the rural township, providing more jobs and tax base.

Tax collector Melinda Bernardi, R.D. Port Allegany, seeks another four-year term. She is unopposed.

Other offices available are auditor, judge of election and inspector of election. No nominating petitions were filed for those.
