Pitt-Bradford To Present Play "Oh, The Humanity"

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s Division of Communication and the Arts next week will present “Oh, the Humanity,” a group of five small plays written by Will Eno.

The play, which is directed by Dr. Kevin Ewert, professor of theater, takes place at 7:30 p.m. April 4, 5 and 6 in the Studio Theater of Blaisdell Hall, and at 2 p.m. April 7. The production runs about an hour with no intermission. Tickets are $6 for the public and $2 for all students.

The loosely connected plays capture emotional moments in the lives of ordinary individuals: a coach admitting defeat, a man and woman each preparing to record a video for a dating service, and an airline spokesperson trying to spin a tragedy.

“Will Eno has one of the most distinctive voices in the theater today,” Ewert said. “His work has been called ‘existential stand-up,’ and that nicely captures his ability to create these hilarious moments of our everyday failings, our agonies and our anxieties.

The cast includes Josh Ellson, a radiological science major from Export; Matthew Tuzynski, an interdisciplinary arts major from Clarks Mills; James Segee, a writing major from Bradford; Stephanie Mihalik, a history-political science major from Pittsburgh; Nyssa Brumagin, an interdisciplinary arts major from North Warren; community member Kelley Baker-Ewert; Love Lee, a broadcast communications major from Upper Darby; Michael Robinson, an interdisciplinary arts major from Louisville, Ky.; and Danielle Scott, a history-political science major from Altadena, Calif.

Tickets are available in advance through the Bromeley Theater Box Office, which can be reached at (814)362-5113 or showtix@pitt.edu.
